Kajol is now officially "Kajol Devgn"!

Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film 'Dilwale' has had two interesting developments already. For the first, Kajol has taken her husband’s surname ‘Devgn’. After being married to Ajay Devgn for 16 years, Kajol has taken the name Kajol Devgn officially and it will be showcased in the credits of 'Dilwale'.

“All these years, Kajol never used her father’s surname Mukherjee, nor her mother’s surname Samarth.” Kajol’s decision to add Devgn to her name is part of a growing trend among heroines to flaunt their marital status, case in point Aishwarya Rai  Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. We hear Vidya Balan too is contemplating doing the same.

Interestingly Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn has done a film with the same name 'Dilwale' 27 years back. Ajay Devgn’s 'Dilwale' was a musical blockbuster.

Coming back to Rohit's Dilwale, the second development that has happened is that Kajol’s name appears after Shah Rukh’s in the credits. That’s noteworthy, because in 2014, King Khan had announced that his leading lady’s name would appear before his own.

And Deepika Padukone's name did appear before Shah Rukh's in Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express and Farah Khan's Happy New Year.

Says a source, “In their fans’ subconscious, they are ‘Shah Rukh and Kajol’ in that order. Why mess with audiences’ perceptions?”

‘Dilwale‘ also stars Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon and is slated to release on 18th December 2015.
