2015's Biggest Friday:'Dilwale' vs 'Bajirao Mastani' to Major Box office clash.

With Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani releasing on the same day on 18 december, Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are set for a major box office clash after eight years and the atmosphere is undoubtedly heavy with excitements and expectations.

The duo last saw Saawariya and Om Shanti Om hit theatres on the same day in 2007. While Saawariya proved to be a dud for Ranbir Kapoor, Om Shanti Om proved to be a dream debut for Deepika Padukone.

The hit jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is making a comeback onscreen after a gap of five years. They were last seen in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ in 2010. On the contrary, Deepika and Ranveer appeared together in the hit film ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela’ in 2013.

The number of silver screens in India are now divided between the father of epic romances, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and the master of entertainment, Rohit Shetty. While Bhansali promises grandeur and excellence with ‘Bajirao Mastani’ as seen in ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela’ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,’ Rohit Shetty rides high on the success of ‘Chennai Express’ which had smashed all records on the box-office. Let’s not forget, the common link between them is – Deepika Padukone, the queen of blockbusters
‘Bajirao Mastani’ is a historical film and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has ensured that it looks realistic. While Deepika Padukone had to go make-up free and Ranveer Singh had to part with his mane of hair, Priyanka Chopra had to drape herself in silk nauvari for her role of Kashibai in the film. Far from the Bajirao Peshwa biopic, ‘Dilwale’ is a typical Rohit Shetty action flick that rides high on romance and drama. With Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol romancing each other in the visually mesmerising, ‘Gerua’ number and Varun Dhawan grooving with Kriti Sanon on hip-hop beats in the song ‘Manma emotion,’ ‘Dilwale’ seems to be the most rewarding treat for SRK fans.

Moreover, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have already given up the intense competition on YouTube on their songs Pinga and Deewani Mastani with Gerua. Being a Rohit Shetty’s film we can clearly expect that the Dilwale is definitely going to be a complete dose of comedy and laughter. While the fact is, according to the story of Bajirao Mastani expecting a lot of humor or comedy is really a bad decision.

Now both films have been rocked by controversies. Unfortunately, it is Dilwale that is facing the heat more with a political group asking people to boycott the film over issues surrounding SRK. Bajirao, on the other hand, had to face the ire of Bajirao Mastani descendants who are not happy with the way their ancestors have been portrayed. However, the descendants lack the political muscle to create any serious impediments.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Friday with a lot at stake for both the films and the industry at large. SRK's marketing savvy and the curiosity over his reunion with Kajol is rivalled by Ranveer-Deepika's chemistry which sizzled in Bhansali's Ram-Leela. Remains to be seen who will have the last laugh.
